Airforce take off at the Standard

Poster for AirforceClassic rock band Airforce bring their crunching riffery to The Standard on 18 February. The East London outfit originally formed around 20 years ago, although the line-up was significantly reworked in 2008 to form the band that exists today.

Airforce play classic rock/metal, and do it well. Vocalist Dolores Dyaz breathes life into tracks that are driven by the full-on riffs of original member Chop Pitman. The band describe themselves as being influenced by Judas Priest and Black Sabbath. They’re not wrong, although there’s something reminiscent of Generation Terrorists-era James Dean Bradfield guitar-work on ‘Label Me’ and ‘My Own Prison’.

Tickets for the gig are only a fiver and available from The Standard in advance. More details on the band can be found on their Reverb Nation site here. Definitely music to get drunk and headbang to. Here’s the video for ‘Label Me’ where they prove that metal belongs in the park, not in a meeting – enjoy.
