Mark Thomas at The Standard

Mark Thomas gig posterLegendary comedian and political activist Mark Thomas is coming to Walthamstow for a Fire Brigades Union (FBU) benefit gig on 23 March.

The gig at The Standard features a cracking line-up of left-wing entertainment. Confirmed to play so far are local folk/punks Steve White & The Protest Family and the Socialist magician Ian Saville. Mark Thomas is performing as part of his “Extreme Rambling: Walking the Wall” tour, about which more information can be found here.

It promises to be a great night and it’s fantastic to see a big name act coming to Walthamstow. Stow Scene saw Mark Thomas supported by Asian Dub Foundation at Watermans Art Centre in Brentford back in the day and it was a fantastic night, so we’re definitely looking forward to this one.

The evening is hosted by Russ Chandler from Walthamstow Folk Club. Tickets are £10 and all proceeds go towards the FBU Hardship Fund, so it’s in a good cause (as you’d expect). Tickets are available from the venue or from here.

  1. The glorious Graham Larkbey & The Escape Committee are now confirmed for this as well.

  2. This looks set to be a great night. I’m looking forward to see Ian Saville live, as I’ve only seen him on video to date. As you say, it’s great to see a gig like this coming to Walthamstow, thanks to the FBU.
